Description
German packaging: Nr. 15 Der Herbalist für Pferde
There are two different reasons to feed your horse oil. On one hand, oil serves as a low-protein energy source or as a substitute for starch-rich cereals. On the other hand, oils are chosen due to their healthy properties. The quality and composition of the oil are decisive factors. The special, particularly high-quality oils provide essential polyunsaturated fatty acids (formerly known as vitamin F). Their tasks in the body include building the cell membranes (especially the nerve membranes), the stability of the skin and hooves, the fluidity of the blood and maintaining fertility, among the things.
In addition to the structural tasks of the essential fatty acids, omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids have an important role in the formation of inflammatory regulating tissue hormones, so-called prostaglandins.
Tissue hormones are able to fight inflammation in the skin, nerves or musculoskeletal system. Alpha and gamma linolenic acids are particularly important to support nutritional therapy for eczema.
Incidentally, in order to digest fat, bile juices from the liver are necessary to emulsify it for easier breakdown for the digestive enzymes. Horses, unlike most mammals, lack a gallbladder that collects bile. Horses are naturally designed for the continuous absorption of oils from grasses and not for 100 ml of oil at a time.
The No. 15 The Herbalist is a blend of the finest cold-pressed organically grown oils of top quality. It has a high proportion of polyunsaturated fatty acids such as alpha-linolenic acid and gamma-linolenic acid compared to oleic acid and the monounsaturated fatty acids from simple oils. The Herbalist is rounded off with herbs containing bitter substances such as artichoke, milk thistle and gentian root. Bitter secondary plant substances stimulate the flow of bile so that fat digestion can begin. It also contains a high content of punicic acid, an omega-5 fatty acid from pomegranate seeds. Pomegranate seed oil is also rich in phytosterols and flavonoids.
Olive oil was included in the recipe because it is rich in fat accompanying substances like squalene (mostly found in fish), phytosterols, phenols and vitamin E. Linseed oil contains about 60% alpha-linolenic acid. Hemp oil is obtained from hemp nuts and is characterized by its balanced ratio of alpha and gamma linolenic acid. It is deep green due to its high proportion of phytochemicals.
Wheat germ oil contains large amounts of natural vitamin E and is considered to be natural preservative. Nevertheless, the Herbalist should be stored cool and in the dark.
Borage and evening primrose oil are known for their wealth of skin-protecting fatty acids, especially gamma-linolenic acid, which also supports the nervous system and stimulation conduction.
Black cumin is rich in accompanying substances that are important for the diet.
The various oils contained in The Herbalist offer a unique spectrum of different fatty acids.
Low needs horses benefit from No. 15 The Herbalist because it already contains a high amount of polyunsaturated fatty acids and a rich pattern of phytochemicals and accompanying oils in small quantities.
For horses that need oil for energy, The Herbalist can be added to their usual oil ration (e.g. 150 ml corn or sunflower oil).
