Description

German packaging: Dr. Weyrauch Leinöl

Horses naturally absorb a large amount of omega-3 fatty acids when grazing fresh green fodder. This finding was discovered several years ago as part of research conducted by the Kentucky Equine Research Institute. These findings have also been known from dairy cow research for decades.

The need for omega-3 fatty acids increased in the spring when horses change their coats, and when meadows haven't yet produced all of their typical fodder. During these times of the year, it is practical to supplement oils like linseed oil because they are very rich in omega-3 fatty acids.

It can also make sense to supplement the oil when horses are not getting fresh grass.

Horses also benefit from the healthy fatty acid spectrum in the linseed oil when changing their coats in autumn.

Our naturally pure linseed oil is rich in valuable polyunsaturated fatty acids, especially omega-3 fatty acids. It is especially valuable when your horse is changing its coat, has increased energy requirements or just to generally improve your horse's feed. When feeding exclusively hay or silage, linseed oil should also be added to your feed.

Polyunsaturated fatty acids are urgently needed to build up cell wall structures in your horse's body. This is especially true for the nerve cells. They have the largest surface area of all the cells and thus have the highest requirement for polyunsaturated fatty acids of all cells in the body. The blood also benefits from the increased fluidity of the omega-3 fatty acids, since the cell wall of the red blood cells becomes more supple when these fatty acids are present. This also improves the blood circulation in the micro-skin structure. Linseed oil also supports healthy, elastic hooves.

Linseed oil provides approx. 3.8 MJ of energy per 100 ml, which just about corresponds to 300 g of oats and should therefore be included in the feed.

This linseed oil is cold pressed at low temperatures (below 40 ° C) and at low pressure. Then it is degummed, deacidified and gently filtered.

Feeding recommendation:

  • Feed 25 to 50 ml daily

Additional notes :

  • A slight cloudiness does not mean a lack of quality, but is inherent to cold-pressed oils (only refined oil is clear).
  • Since linseed oil belongs to the group of so-called drying oils, please keep the container tightly closed to minimise the formation of a skin.
